Harnessing the Healing Power of Water

There’s a certain kind of magic that happens when you slow down to hear the rhythm of water. Whether it’s the crash of the ocean, the babble of a brook, or the gentle pattering of rain, water has a language all its own. It's almost as it speaks directly to your soul.
We Are Water
Not only is water the most abundant molecule on earth, but it is also the most abundant molecule in our cells, subtly regulating temperature, transporting nutrients, clearing waste, and fueling the chemistry of life itself. Comprising approximately 60-70% of our bodies, we are like living tides that constantly flow, shift, and respond to the unseen pull of the moon. Water is our living medicine, an elemental ally, a daily invitation to come home to ourselves.
Water Holds Memory
Water has been a sacred resource for healing, transformation, and emotional alchemy since the dawn of time. The fascinating work of Dr. Masaru Emoto reveals just how deeply words, sound, and intention can shape water's molecular structure. When exposed to loving words or harmonious frequencies, water forms stunning crystalline snowflakes-like patterns. But when subjected to negativity or disconnection from it's natural flow in nature, it becomes disordered, fragmented, and chaotic. Which of these would you rather put in your body?

Healing Water Rituals
The same is true within us. Just like a flowing stream, we are meant to move, express, release. When we stagnate, whether emotionally or energetically, our inner waters lose their rhythm. But with intention, love, and alignment, we return to our natural clarity and brilliance. Here are just a few of the ways I invite healing through water:
Drinking Moon Water: Full moons are a time for releasing and healing, while new moons are a time for setting intentions. To make moon water, set a covered jar full of water out in the moonlight overnight. The next morning it's ready for drinking. Before I take a sip, I hold my glass and speak a simple affirmation over it: “This water nourishes me. It brings clarity, healing, and peace.” It may sound small, but it’s powerful. Water holds memory, and your words hold great power, so intention is everything.
Crying without shame: Tears are sacred. They’re your body’s way of washing away grief, fear, and even joy. Allowing yourself cry is a healing act, and something I wasn't always able to do. I've found that the more I heal, the more I cry...and the more I cry, the more I heal. So go ahead, shed those tears like a snake sheds it's skin.
Ocean visits and spiritual baths: Immersing yourself in natural water is one of the most ancient cleansing rituals. Much like salty tears, I believe the powerful combination of the earth's sacred salts and healing water is what makes it so deeply purifying. Getting to the ocean is a rare treat, so I like to create my own healing experience by blending herbs, essential oils and salts for soothing baths and foot soaks.
Sound healing with water instruments: Whether it’s a wave drum, a bamboo rainstick, a cacho seed pod shaker, or even tuning forks near water, the resonance amplifies the release and tunes your body to the healing frequencies of nature. I let the rhythm guide me, flowing in harmony through all the seasons.
Shamanic water dance: In this sacred practice, I move intuitively, swaying like branches in the wind, dancing with the rising ocean tide, imaginatively splashing healing water over my body, channeling the elemental energy of water to dissolve blockages and restore natural flow of energy. One could say I dance to the beat of my own shamanic drum, giving myself permission to take up all the space I need.
Final Flow
Healing doesn’t always come in grand revelations or overnight breakthroughs. Sometimes it comes in ripples. In sound. In soft waves. In small, sacred acts that say, “I choose to heal. I choose to flow.”
The next time you interact with water, whether it’s washing your hands, watering a plant, sipping tea, or dancing in the rain, perhaps you will pause to consider how water is serving your healing. And maybe, just maybe, you might even whisper some intentions of love.
